"I moved to the Black Hills in 1976 as the director of the Department of Social Services. In 1980 I married my beautiful wife Jo Roebuck-Pearson and we purchased the Historic Franklin Hotel in Deadwood. In 1983 Jo and I founded Dakota Travel. After 26 years in the hotel industry, we sold our beloved Franklin Hotel and purchased Rushmore Travel in Rapid City. These days I keep myself busy with the daily functions of two travel agencies. My motto is “See the World before you leave it.”
