I
am a licensed Massage Therapist, certified Reflexologist, and Reiki II
Practitioner. I am also a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.
I became interested in massage
after learning about alternative medicine and energy healing. When I received
my first massage, I thought, “What have I been missing all this
time?” I was hooked right away. I loved the experience of floating
in that place of “no-time” and feeling my body heal itself.
I wanted others to experience that feeling.
After completing the massage
program at Headlines Academy in Rapid City, SD, in 2005, I mentored with
a massage therapist who has been in the business for 30 years. I like
to say she taught me everything I know.
Reflexology is a passion of
mine. It’s fascinating how the whole body can be affected the through
the feet. Also, I love having my feet rubbed and figured everyone else
does too!
My interest in energy medicine
has also led me to study Reiki. Reiki helps me to listen to the body and
tune in to the flow of energy.
Like many others who don’t
know what they want to be when they “grow up,” it took awhile
in the journey of my life before I was introduced to massage therapy.
But it felt very natural to me right away and was something I knew I would
do well.
For me, whether giving or
receiving, massage is sacred space. Space where time can stop, healing
and inspiration can occur, or a person can reconnect with his or her inner
self.
My other interests include
Middle Eastern drumming, science fiction, pottery,
Renaissance festivals, reading, swimming, yoga and camping.
